What we do.

The Line offers a listening service for people over 16 years, living in Devon, who have been raped or sexually abused, either recently or in the past. We also offer support for partners, families and friends and provide information about other agencies.

Who will answer.

Fully trained volunteers, who receive ongoing training, support and supervision.

Sexual abuse can be experienced by anybody, whatever their race, age, class, colour, religion or sexuality. Some common feelings experienced by people who have been sexually abused are:

• Powerlessness (or feeling out of control)
• Guilt or responsibility for the abuse
• Fear of not being believed
• Fear of it happening again
• Fear of intimacy
• Confusion
• Isolation
• Shame

Some common problems are:

• Sleeplessness/flashbacks
• Alcohol/drug misuse
• Relationship problems
• Low self-esteem
• Eating problems
• Depression
• Anger
• Self harm

It doesn't matter how long ago the rape or abuse happened, or whether it was reported - you can still contact us.
